Before it reaches Vibrac, the River Charente becomes languid.
The River embraces several islands.
On one of these islands stands the ruins of a Chateau (with balustraded terrace, a stairway and the remnants of a tower) the ancient stronghold of the Duc d’Epernon, then of the Duc de Navailles.
The the river meanders under one of the four arched bridges which comprises the bourg.
